Citation source
Also: cited source · AI citation
A citation source is a web page an AI engine retrieved and relied on while composing an answer, usually shown as a link beside the answer.
Why it matters in senior living
Citation sources are the raw material of GEO. If the engines answering “best memory care in Charlotte” keep citing two review sites and one aggregator, those three pages decide who gets named. A community that is absent or thinly described there is absent from the answer.
The mix differs by engine. Google AI Overviews favours Google's own properties and major review sites; Perplexity and ChatGPT cite a wider spread of pages they can crawl and quote, including local news and community websites.
How Nuovee treats it
Nuovee records every cited URL per engine per community and rolls them up by domain, so the Remediation tab shows exactly which pages to fix or get onto, ranked by how often each engine cites them.
