Google AI Overviews

Google AI Overviews are the AI-generated summaries Google shows at the top of some search results pages, with cited sources, before the traditional list of links.
Why it matters in senior living
For senior-living queries, an AI Overview often names three to six communities and links to the pages it drew on. When it appears, click-through to the ordinary results drops sharply, so being named in the Overview matters more than ranking just below it.
Google does not show an Overview for every query, and it has no API. Measuring it means fetching the actual results page for the question and parsing the Overview when Google renders one. A results page with no Overview is a valid measurement: the community could not have been named there.
AI Overviews lean heavily on Google's own data, which is why the Google Business Profile, reviews, and consistent listings matter more for this engine than for ChatGPT or Perplexity.
How Nuovee treats it
Nuovee measures Google AI Overviews as its own engine. A query that returned no Overview counts as a run in which the community was not named, which is honest; only a transport failure is excluded.
