AI visibility · memory care
Is your memory care community in ChatGPT?
Memory care questions are the most conversational on AI assistants: a daughter describing her mother's diagnosis and asking what to do. The engine answers with names. It is also the care type where a referral fee hurts most, often above $10,000 per move-in, so being the community the AI names is worth more here than anywhere else.

The questions families ask AI about memory care
These are the forms the check uses, with your city filled in. They matter because engines answer each one differently, and a community can be named for one and absent from another.
- “Best memory care near [city]”
- “My mom has dementia and lives near [city]. Which memory care communities should we look at?”
- “Memory care facilities in [city] that accept residents with wandering behaviour”
- “How much does memory care cost in [city]?”
- “Secure dementia care near [city] with a nurse on site”
What the engines cite for memory care
- Review sites and directories with memory-care-specific listings and filters.
- Google Business Profile with the memory care category set, plus reviews that mention dementia care by name.
- Pages that answer clinical questions plainly: secured units, staff ratios, nurse hours, behavioural support.
- Local Alzheimer's Association chapter resources and local news, which engines treat as trustworthy.
The usual gaps
When a memory care community scores low, one of these is almost always the reason:
- Memory care is a wing inside an assisted living listing and never appears as its own entity.
- The website avoids the words families use (dementia, Alzheimer's, wandering, secured) in favour of brand language.
- No pricing approach is stated, so the engine quotes a directory's range instead.
- Reviews do not mention memory care, so the engine cannot connect the community to the question.
What it is worth
Memory care referral fees are the highest in the industry, commonly $7,000–$12,000 per move-in.
Stays are shorter than assisted living, so each move-in matters more to occupancy and each avoided fee is a larger share of the resident's value.
Frequently asked questions
- Families ask AI very personal questions about dementia. How is that measured?
- The check includes a conversational question of exactly that kind, alongside “best” and “cost” forms, because engines answer it differently. A community can be named for “best memory care” and absent from the conversational answer, or the reverse.
- Our memory care is part of a larger community. Does that hurt visibility?
- Often, yes. If the engine's sources describe the community only as assisted living, it will not be named for memory care questions. The fix is a memory-care page and listing category that state the care type plainly.
- Why does memory care matter so much for referral fees?
- Because the fee is a percentage of the first month's rent and memory care rent is the highest. A direct, AI-sourced memory care move-in can avoid a five-figure fee.
