Wilson confidence interval
Also: Wilson score interval · confidence band
A Wilson confidence interval is the range within which the true rate behind an observed proportion is likely to lie, given the number of trials; it stays sensible at small samples and near 0% or 100%, where simpler formulas break.
Why it matters in senior living
AI visibility is a proportion: named in 7 of 20 answers is 35%. The question is how much to trust that 35%. The Wilson interval says, for 20 runs, roughly “between 18% and 57% at 95% confidence”. For 200 runs the same 35% becomes “between 29% and 42%”.
The band is the honesty. It makes a small sample look like a small sample, and it stops a single lucky day from reading as a trend. Two communities at 35% and 40% with overlapping bands are, as far as the data knows, equal.
How Nuovee treats it
Every visibility rate Nuovee shows, in the checker and in the dashboard, carries its 95% Wilson band. Over-budget days simply produce a wider band rather than a made-up number.
